Poplar Boys Knock Off Lame Deer

Poplar’s boys’ basketball team outscored Lame Deer, 97-95, to gain a victory at the tip-off tournament in Lockwood on Friday, Dec. 12.

Deadlocked at 85-85 at the end of regulation, the Indians scored 12 points in overtime for the non-conference win. Dane Moran scored six points and Chasen Pribbernow added five points in overtime.

The Indians led by a 22-21 margin at the end of the first quarter and by a 41-38 score at the half. Wilder Bearcub scored nine points for the Indians during the first half.

After Lame Deer grabbed a 68-67 lead in the third quarter, Poplar scored 18 points in the fourth quarter.

Top scorers for the Indians were Moran with 21, Pribbernow with 18, Bearcub with 15, Ryder Olson with 15 and Chance Pribbernow with 14.

Anthony Youngman added five and Stephan Smoker had two points.

Poplar fell against a strong Lodge Grass squad, 77-54, during boys’ basketball play in Lockwood on Saturday, Dec. 20.

The Indians trailed 23-10 at the end of the first quarter and 46-18 at the half.

Chasen Pribbernow led the Indians with 12 points.

Also scoring for Poplar were Chance Pribbernow with eight, Ryder Olson with seven, Dane Moran with seven, Wilder Bearcub with six, Xhaizen Bullchief with four, Anthony Youngman with four, Juanito Garfield with two and Stephen Smoker with one.

The Indians will host conference opponent Glasgow on Thursday, Dec. 18.
