Lustre’s Boys Aim To Contend In League, State
The Lustre Lions open their season looking to be one of the top Class C boys’ basketball squads again.
“It should be a fun year,” Coach Randy Reddig said. Returning starters for the Lions are senior Johnlee Pierre, sophomore Cam Reddig and sophomore Prestyn Klatt. Pierre and Reddig each earned All-State honors last year.
Diek Olfert, a senior, Joel Reddig, a sophomore, and Hadden Olfert, a junior, all saw quality varsity minutes last season.
“We have a lot of guys who have been in the program for a long time,” Coach Reddig said.
The Lions placed second at the Eastern C divisional basketball tournament last season to qualify for the state tournament for the third straight year.
The coach said the Lions aren’t as tall as they have been in recent years, but Lustre features many excellent shooters.
“They can all play, that’s what I’m excited about,” Coach Reddig said.
With Scobey and Circle, the coach feels District 3C features probably three of the top five teams in the entire state.
“There will be some battles,” he said. Lustre will open its season at the Class C Tip-off tournament in Glasgow on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6.
