Lions Win Home Match Against Nashua
Lustre’s volleyball team ended its regular season with a 25-16, 20-25, 25-21, 25-16, home victory over Nashua on Friday, Oct. 24.
After the conference opponents split the first two sets, the Lions grabbed an 18-16 lead in the third set on an ace by Samantha Neufeld.
Nashua stayed close on a kill by Gracyn Sibley, but Aleah Fast then scored a kill for a 21-18 lead. A kill by Holly Hilkemann, an ace by Fast and an ace by Hannah Brown put the Lions ahead by a 23-19 margin. The Porcupines responded with a block by Katey Dykstra, but Lustre won the set by a 25-21 final.
The fourth set was tight at 15-11 until an ace by Neufeld, a kill by Fast and a serve by Lauryn Holzrichter led the way to a 21-12 lead.
Ahead by a 22-14 margin, the Lions increased the lead to 24-14 on a pair of spikes by Brown.
After an ace by Dykstra pulled Nashua to 24-16, a kill by Brown ended the match.
