Athletes Race At State Meet

Poplar’s boys placed fourth in the team standings at the Class B state cross country meet held in Missoula on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Indians finished with 167 points.

The top three teams were state champion Harlem with 53 points, Ennis with 126 and Manhattan with 139 points. Wolf Point was 20th with 512 points.

John Jermyn of Plains captured the individual title with a time of 16:02.41. Harlem’s Ethan Walker was a close second at 16:04.02.

Poplar’s Issac Irizarry took 23rd place at 18:01.90 and teammate Eljin Grey Bear placed 26th at 18:08.64.

Wilder Bearcub ran the course in 18:42.00 for 41st place. Jayden Eder took 47th at 18:49.70.

Ryder Olson placed 55th at 18:56.04. Raylando Red Eagle was 147th at 20:53.05. Mickey Failing took 150th at 20:56.39.

Leading Wolf Pooint was eighth-grader Keydon Beston with a time of 19:13.03 for 71st place.

Colter Berglee placed 95th at 19:42.46. Andrew Williamson took 124th at 20:26.39.

Kayeiko Villaluz placed 137th at 20:40.37. Ezekiel Payne was 190th at 22:31.40. Kevin Brock was 203rd at 23:58.83.

In the girls’ team standings, Poplar was 11th with 257 points. Jefferson won the state championship with 66 points. Broadwater’s Kyla Meissner ran to the individual title at 19:31.99.

Wolf Point’s eighth-grader Cali Gorder finished in 16th place at 20:45.57.

Cadence Bouldin placed 78th at 23:38.98. Lakealah Mays took 178th at 28:12.99.

Poplar’s eighth-grader Mila Gramling finished in 39th place at 21:55:54.

Kellyn Azure took 48th at 22:14.85. Emilyann Meyers was 59th at 22:50.15.

Alara Cooper placed 80th with a time of 23:46.77. Harley Daniels was 90th at 24:00.61. Amelia Weeks took 103rd at 24:25.67. Liberty Boadle was 126th at 25:12.04.
