Poplar Teams Win Titles At Home Meet

Poplar’s boys’ team captured first place and the Poplar’s girls also earned top honors at the Poplar Invitational cross country meet held at Saturday, Sept. 6.

The Indians finished with 51 points. Scobey took second with 94 points.

Leading the Indians were Isaac Irizarry with a second- place finish at 18:41.59 and Eljin Grey Bear with a third-place showing at 18:42.54. Plentywood’s Dean Sampson finished first at 17:53.65.

Poplar’s Wilder Bearcub took seventh place at 20:06.31.

Raylando Red Eagle earned 12th place at 21:03.63.

Dustin Smith was 27th at 23:05.55. Mickey Failing placed 28th at 23:09.30.

In the girls’ division, the Indians earned first with 37 points followed by Malta with 104 and Brockton with 123 points.

Poplar’s Journey Gourneau placed second at 21:42.63.

Also placing in the top 10 for the Indians were Blake Follette in seventh at 23:21.72, Mila Gramling in eighth at 23:22.29 and Kellyn Azure in ninth at 23:26.14.

Amelia Weeks placed 11th at 24:06.82. Alara Cooper was 13th at 24:49.70 and Harley Daniels took 14th at 25:15.47.

Athletes from Frazer and Brockton also enjoyed success at the meet.

Frazer’s junior Gabe Beston finished in fifth place with a time of 19:41.21.

Bryce Fourstar placed 13th at 21:10.62. Preston Beston took 22nd at 22:50.35.

Ronald Round Face was 43rd at 28:33.49.

In the girls’ division, Frazer’s Noli Sibley was 25th at 26:33.77. Isabelle Even took 31st at 27:08.45. Elli Mail was 37th at 28:30.57. Audrey Mail placed 41st at 29:36.79.

Brockton’s BraeLynn De-Marrias ran the course in 22:38.56 for fourth place.

Tamryn Bauer was 17th at 25:32.84. Taylor Cummins took 29th at 26:59.18.

Skylar Cummins placed 35th at 28:27.74. Marlene Fish was 38th at 28:39.13.

Raykira Track took 46th at 31:00.24. Olivia Erickson placed 37th at 33:14.88.

In the boys’ division, Brockton’s Daniel Segubiense was 20th at 22:17.11.
