Temperatures have moderated this week, with a cool 47 degrees Wednesday morning, and 64 degrees on Friday at 7:15 a.m. before bus times. We look forward to the 80’s again next week for farmers in the wheat fields. High winds were the feature of Thursday, from in the night throughout the day.

Lustre Grade School hosted an open house on Wednesday after school at 4 p.m. Parents were welcomed, teachers and staff introduced and Principal Matthyser gave an address. She spoke of the communication systems available, procedures to follow, and programs, testing schedules and changes to the required tests. She acknowledged the state wide problem of bus drivers needed, and announced the need for a bus driver for the Lustre Grade School.

Commendation was given to Jackie Forest who is putting together the weekly school newsletter. Introduced besides the teachers, were Lisa Neufeld and Alicia Olfert, who will oversee the Title programs, Beth Ketcher of Brockton, who is in her second year of directing the LGS special education students, Mrs. Lenihan and Mrs Klatt, and Mrs. Utchmann who are teacher aids, and Tori Bell, our cook. Ms. Early will lead the Robotics class the first semester, under the STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), and it will be daily for grades 4-8. Mr. Matthyser will lead the coding and technology portion in January of 2026. The Robotics club is voluntary and is an after school activity.

Pastor Frank and Debbie Lenihan have their first grand-daughter! Riley Avery Henning was born July 29, 2025, to Brad and Amanda Henning. Congratulations!

The Lustre community gathered Friday afternoon to enjoy the Lustre Lady Lions play against the Medicine Lake/Froid girls in three levels. The 4-7th graders played their 6-7th graders in the first match. What fun to watch these gals work together, learning. The JV and varsity matches followed, and all the games were hard fought. The varsity won two and lost three. It was great to see them work hard and long on the volleys, and see the respect and support they gave to the younger teams. They play North Country and attend the Scobey Invite on the 12th and 13th respectively, both away games. Their season is dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Matthyser.
