Burshia Begins Duties As Southside Principal

Southside Elementary School has a new leader as the school year begins in Wolf Point on Monday, Aug. 18. Brandi Burshia was hired as the school’s new principal during a school board meeting during June.
Former school principal Tara Thomas is now the junior high principal.
“I’m excited to begin a new journey and work back in the school district where I started,” Burshia said.
She holds three masters degrees — in the fields of business administration, elementary education and education administration.
Burshia taught students in grades 4-6 for five years at Northide Elementary School in Wolf Point and taught the past three years in Poplar.
Southside Elementary School now features students in pre-K through second grade.
“I think it will be a new experience for me,” Burshia said of working with the younger students. “I love watching the kids grow and learn new things.”
A change for the school is fewer students with thirdgrade students now attending Northside Elementary School. Burshia feels the additional room at Southside will be beneficial.
There is not change in daily schedules.
An alternative learning center is now located at Southside for grades K-5.
Southside will hold a back to school open house on Friday, Aug. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. Ice cream will be served.
“It’s a good time to meet teachers,” Burshia said.
