Wild Horse Stampede Ranch Rodeo Set For Wednesday Night


The third annual Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo will entertain residents starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at the Marvin Brookman Stadium.
A pitchfork fondue will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Big Sky Corral. Cost is $20.
Teams for the Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo will include The Regulators from Sidney (Logan Phipps, Spence Ingalls, Trey Dempewolf and Tryston Buscho), Cornwell Ranch from Glasgow (KC Verhelst, JP Cornwell, Charlie Cornwell and Jack Cornwell), Whiteman Cattle Co. from Richey (Lee Whiteman, Tanner Solberg, Ryan Smith and Cameron Carroll), SSSS Ranches from Saskatchewan (Eric Buyer, Hayden Bigney, Cassidy Cairns and Bronc Toews), Steppler Ranch from Culbertson (Alex Munoz, Ruben Munoz, James Gorman and Wayne DeWitt), Stensland Cattle Co. from Wolf Point (JD Stensland, Josh Bilbrey, Jeret Bilbrey and Jace Bilbrey), Maxwell Butte Ranch from Powderville (Lane Krutzfeldt, Cole Trexler, Tristan Setzer and Tatum Hansen), Sidney Livestock/Prewitt & Co. from Sidney (Grady Larson, Garrett Larson, Tryan Knight and Trey Knight), Flying H Cattle from Circle (Wyatt Handy, Josh Eggebrecht, Sage Kvien and Cole Reum) and North Country Ranch Hands from Malta (Carson Sand, Jerrett Warren, Guy Simanton and Sam Malmond).
Events will consist of the following: • Brandings: Each team will rope two calves each and drag to the branding pot to be branded. Two teams will go at the same time.
• Stray gather/doctorings: This event combines two ranch tasks. In no specific order, teams will rope one animal and tie it down and rope one animal, string both front and back feet to mimic doctoring the animal.
• Trailer Loadings: Each team will rope two animals and load into the trailer. One team will got at a time.
• Wild cow milking: Teams will rope cow, then milk her. Milk must drip from the bottle in order to get a time. Two teams will go at the same time.
• Milk Em For A Cause Challenge: Jason Frederick, Jason Baker and CJ Colon will attempt to milk a cow. 100 percent payback, 60 percent to calcutta winner, 40 percent to the Kai Villaluz family.
• Bronc riding: Teams will saddle the horse in the chute, then let him out into the arena. Three of the team members will then get control of the horse for the bronc rider to mount the horse in the arena. There is no scoring in this event. It is a timed event.
• Scoring: Points are awarded using the following method: The fastest time is awarded 10 points, second fastest gets nine points, third fastest gets eight points, etc. The team will the greatest number of points combined over the five events wins.
The first Weyrauch Memorial Wild Horse Race will kick off the action on Wednesday.
Teams include Fort Peck Bandits (Dussette Grandchamp, Dashaun Jackson and Kacey Reed), Team Boyd (Canon Boyd and Preston Stevens), Team Weyrauch (Jarod Weyrauch, Gage Weyrauch and Colton Weyrauch), Team Horseshoe (Jake Flynn, TJ Bow and Jocelyn Williams) and B& G Construction (Chris Hajek, Lanny Bevinton and Colten Haman).
The Maxwell Butte Ranch of Powderville captured top honors during last year’s Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo. Placing second was the Steppler Ranch Team of Culbertson and The Whiteman Cattle Company of Richey took third.
