Bainville Student Selected Character Counts Winner

Bainville High School senior Addison Hansen has been announced as one of the four state winners in the Big Sky State Games Character Counts Scholarships.

The scholarships recognizes the importance of sportsmanship and character in athletics. The winners serve as role models throughout their senior years.

Hansen is a three-sport athlete for the Bulldogs. She competes in volleyball, basketball and track. She capped her junior year by placing fifth in the discus with a mark of 106-05 at the Class C state track meet. She placed second at the divisional level in the discus.

“By recognizing the importance of the Six Pillars of Character, established by Character Counts, the Big Sky State Games is taking a proactive approach to developing character through participation in sports,” said Liana Susott, Big Sky State Games’ executive director in a press release. “Trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship are ethical values important in all aspects of life, including the Big Sky State Games. The scholarships are an opportunity for the Big Sky State Games to reward positive behavior through sports and in life.”

Other athletes selected as winners were Kamdyn Mc-Farland of Billings West, Joshua Campbell of North Star and Issac Mosser of Billings Skyview.

Each of the winners will be honored during the Big Sky State Games’ opening ceremonies on July 18.
