Yellowjackets Host Four-Team Baseball Tournament During Weekend
The Wolf Point Yellowjackets capped their baseball season with the four-team Wolf Point Summer Slam End of Year Tourney at Burke Field during the weekend.
Visiting squads for the tournament were Sidney, Froid and Malta.
The Yellowjackets opened the tourney with a 24-2 victory over Malta on Saturday.
O’Ryan Burshia got Wolf Point off to a good start by pitching the game’s first three innings. Maxton Moran was on the mound for the final two frames.
During winners’ bracket action on Sunday morning, the Yellowjackets fell to Sidney by a 22-0 final. Sidney led by only a 4-0 margin after two innings, but then the Patriots struck for nine runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Highlights for the Yellowjackets included throwing a runner out trying to advance to third base as Damari Martinez, Evan Kawasaki and Moran teamed up on the play, The Yellowjackets then lost to Froid by an 18-0 margin.
