Area Contestants Place At Poplar Rodeo
Poplar’s JC Crowley and Circle’s Shaylee Wahl were among the winners at Poplar’s Wild West Days’ rodeo on Saturday.
Crowley tied with Havre’s George Marcenko for first place in tie down roping with a time of 11 seconds. JP Cornwell and Trevor Klind, both of Glasgow, tied for third at 12.5 seconds.
Wahl registered the fastest time in ladies’ breakaway at 2.4 seconds. Glasgow’s Brooke Billingsley and Miles City’s Chalee Harms tied for second at 2.6 seconds.
Jordan’s Kelly Murnion was a double winner as he earned top honors in bareback at 66 and bull riding at 72.
Glasgow’s Jack Cornwell was the winner in steer wrestling at 7.6 seconds. Wibaux’s Trey Knight placed second at 22.4 seconds.
Knight earned first in saddle bronc riding with a score of 61.
Malta’s Jesse Benson and Chris Barthelmess earned first in team roping at 8.2 seconds. Ty Kittson and Cody McCabe of Hays placed second at 8.7. Wibaux’s Trey Knights and Tryan Knight took third at 10.2. Glasgow’s Shayne Bishop and John Graham placed fourth at 11.1.
Miles City’s Chalee Harms finished first in ladies barrels at 15.99 seconds. Wolf Point’s Jill Ferdina was second at 16.18 and Poplar’s Heather Crowley took third at 16.27.
In junior barrels, Glendive’s Quincey Langan was the winner at 16.35 seconds. Glasgow’s Blaire Billingsley was second at 17.26, Sidney’s Leddy Larson placed third at 17.40, and Poplar’s Paityn Kirn was fourth at 18.78.
In junior breakaway, Sidney’s Lauren Youngquist finished first at 3.4. Sidney’s Leddy Larson took second at 4.9, Glendive’s Quincey Langan was third at 5.1 and Sidney’s Emma Youngquist was fourth at 6.9.
