Wolf Point Downs Poplar In Softball Action

Wolf Point posted a 2412 softball win over Poplar during home softball play on Sunday, June 8.

After the first inning ended in a 7-7 deadlock, the Yellowjackets shut down Poplar in the top of the second behind the pitching of Marley Moran.

Wolf Point gained control with seven runs in the bottom of the second. After McKinlee Paulson scored on a wild pitch, a single by Moran knocked home Mackenzie Rodenberg. Ma’Kenzie Jackson then connected for a double to bring Moran home.

Jackson, Kiera Rush, Baylee Bearcub and Iyerlee Paulson came across on wild pitches for the final four runs of the frame.

The Yellowjackets added seven runs in the bottom of the third for a 21-7 advantage. Scoring in the inning were M. Paulson, Rodenberg, Moran, Jackson, Rush, Bearcub and Afton Hanks. Hitting singles were Moran, Jackson and Hanks.

After the Indians tallied a run in the top of the fourth, Wolf Point added three runs in the bottom of the fourth as Rodenberg, Jackson and Bearcub crossed the plate.

Poplar accounted for four runs in the top of the fifth for the 24-12 final margin.
