Pierre Wins Three State Titles
Johnslee Pierre of Lustre accounted for a remarkable three state championship performances at the Class C state track meet in Missoula during the weekend.
The Lions finished with 38 points for fourth place in the boys’ standings. Manhattan Christian won the team title with 75 points.
Pierre, a junior, finished first in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 39.55 seconds. He also won the state title in the event as a freshman.
He earned first in the long jump with a mark of 21-11 and top honors in the triple jump at 44-05.
Prestyn Klatt, a sophomore, finished second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:36.24.
Richey/Lambert won the girls’ team championship with 52 points. Scobey and Granite tied for second with 50 points. Savage placed fourth with 40 and Circle took fifth with 37.
Other Eastern C athletes winning state titles were Plentywood’s Henry Kukowski in the 100 and 200, Savage’s Cambry Conradsen in the 100, 200 and 400, Whitewater’s Shelbi LaBrie in the 1600 and 3200, Richey/Lambert’s Jolee Klempel in the 100-meter hurdles, Scobey’s Kaytie Aanstad in the shot put, Whitewater’s Kennedy Simonson in the javelin, Savage’s Mylee Reuter in the pole vault and Richey/Lambert’s Brynne Hill in the triple jump.
