The Lustre Christian High School spring concert was held at the EMB church the evening of April 30.

The concert choir, directed by Pastor Wayne Hathaway, began the concert with Set Me As a Seal by John Leavitt, and Jonah by Rollo A Dilworth. It had very good voice blending. The choir was accompanied by Sarah Brown. Members of the choir were (sopranos) Sheila Jones, Eden Lorenz, Rachel Pew, Ashtyn Traeholt; (altos) Lauren Fast, Jaden Gibson, Holly Hilkemann; (tenors) Byson Allen, TJ Cumpio, AJ Lloyd, Zach Hilkemann; (baritones) John Choi, Wheeler Bambise, Byron Ewing, Nathan Fat, Mason Hilkemann, Prestyn Klatt, Hadden Olfert, Jacob Rigby, Chris Traeholt.

Accompanied by Meridith Reddig, the LCHS men’s ensemble sang a fun song, The Sailor’s Life for Me. Little Brown Jug arranged by C. Deemer, was performed by a trumpet trio consisting of Lauren Fast, Abby Olfert and Diek Olfert. Accompanied by Sarah Brown, Hannah Brown and Jaden Gibson sang You are my All in All by Lloyd Larson.

The LCHS ladies’ ensemble, directed by Pastor Hathaway, sang Cantar! by Jay Althouse, with piano by Sarah Brown. Justice Byers performed To a Wild Rose by Edward MacDowell on alto saxophone, accompanied by Meridith Reddig. Rachel Pew sang Stille Thranen by Robert Schumann. Mason Hilkemann performed Concert Fantasie by Keith Snell on his alto sax, and Chariot’s Comin’! was performed by a brother-sister duo, Lauren and Nathan Fast. These were accompanied by Meridith Reddig.

A flute quintet composed of Hannah Brown, Lauryn Holzrichter, Sidney Klatt, Ashtyn Traeholt and Monica Uy performed Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Five Duets was played on alto saxophones by Kayden Charette and Mason Hilkemann. Bryan Ewing sang a baritone solo called Wayfaring Stranger, arranged by James Colman. Ashtyn Traeholt and Justice Byers sang a duet arranged by Benjamin Harlan called Amazing Grace, and Easy Does It by Kate Agoritis was played by Lauren Fast (trumpet) and Holly Hilkemann (trombone). TJ Cumpio, with a great baritone vocal solo called Rolling Down to Rio by Edward German, was accompanied by Meridith Reddig. Mindy Olfert directed the LCHS ensemble with a super performance of Swing Fever by Dean Sorenson and Bruce Pearson.

The jazz ensemble consisted of (alto sax) Justice Byers, Kayden Charette, Mason Hilkemann, Chris Traeholt, (trumpet) Abby Olfert, Diek Olfert, (trombone) Nathan Fast, Holly Hilkemann, (percussion) Andy Ponce-Curl and Joel Reddig.

Mindy Olfert directed the LCHS concert band in Come Praise and Glorify arranged by Dan Marasco and selections from Pirates of the Caribbean by Michael Sweeney.

Members of the concert band were (flute) Hannah Brown, Lauryn Holzrichter, Sidney Klatt, Ashtyn Traeholt, Monica Uy; (clarinet) Eden Lorenz; (alto sax) Kencia Brown, Justice Byers, Kayden Charette, Mason Hilkemann, Cam Reddig, Chris Traeholt; (trumpet) KJ Brown, Lauren Fast, Yoseph Lee, Abby Olfert, Diek Olfert; (trombone) Nathan Fast, Holly Hilkemann, Johnslee Pierre; (percussion) Andy Ponce-Curl and Joel Reddig.

More than 100 people came to hear the concert, and the LCHS expresses great appreciation for the community people “who have donated countless hours to student rehearsals”. They are accompanists, Sarah Brown and Meredith Reddig, and directors Mindy Olfert and Pastor Wayne Hathaway.

The District Music Festival was held April 25-26 and 27 of the 38 LCHS students have gone to compete at Montana State Music Festival in Billings May 2-3 at Skyview High School.
