Indians, Bearcubs Place At Last Chance Invitational
Track athletes from Poplar and Frazer ended their regular season at the Last Chance Invitational in Glasgow on Saturday, May 3.
Poplar’s Kaniel Ricker earned first place in the triple jump with a mark of 394. Teammate Ryder Olson placed third in the event with a personal best of 36-0. Olson finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.94 seconds.
Wilder Bearcub finished second in the 300-meter hurdles at 45.34 seconds. Raylando Red Eagle took sixth at 49.16. Both were personal best times.
Walker Burshia earned fourth place in the shot put at 40-3.
Red Eagle placed fourth in the 1600 at 5:35.51 and Jayden Eder earned fifth at 5:35.94. Eder also took fifth in the 3200 at 11:50.00. Ricker was sixth in the long jump at 16-6.
Poplar’s boys’ 400-meter relay team featuring Bearcub, Ricker, River Olson and Ryder Olson finished fourth at 50.55 seconds.
In the girls’ division, Journey Gourneau finished first with a personal best time of 12:46.72 in the 3200.
Lilliana O’Neal took second place in the discus at 100-3.
Both of Poplar’s girls’ relay teams placed fourth. The 400-meter relay of Emilyann Meyers, Madison Knowlton, Braelyn Nordwick and McKenzie Crawford had a time of 1:00.26. The 1600-meter relay of Gourneau, Meyers, Alara Cooper and Kelbee Redstone posted a time of 4:59.68.
Nordwick cleared 4-2 for fifth place in the high jump. Placing sixth were Cooper at 14:26.58 in the 3200 and Meyers with a time of 1:13.49 in the 400.
A highlight for Frazer was the girls’ 400-meter relay team of Maci Fourstar-Sibley, Audrey Mail, Noelani Sibley and Isabelle Even placing sixth with a time of 1:01.5.
Having personal bests for the Bearcubs at the meet were Chase Jackson in the shot put, Cassius Smoker in the long jump and Fourstar-Sibley in the javelin.
