Area Relay Teams Excel At Top 10 Track Meet


Relays were a strong point when track athletes from Culbertson and Bainville competed at the 43rd annual Norm Girard Top 10 meet in Glasgow on Tuesday, April 29.
Culbertson’s boys’ 400-meter relay team finished in first place with a time of 44.78 seconds. The relay consisted of Harrison Green, Ian Snyder, Bridger Salvevold and Reese Moon.
Moon finished third in the 200 with a personal best time of 23.41 seconds.
Gavin Deen, a senior, placed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 146-0.
Brooks Solem, a sophomore, cleared 5-10 for fourthplace honors in the high jump.
Also having personal bests for the Cowboys were Cal Steppler with a time of 11:.22 in the 3200 and Solem with a time of 45.32 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.
Bainville’s girls’ 400-meter relay team came away with fourth-place honors with a time of 53.57 seconds. The relay featured Casey Myers, Elsie Wilson, Lila Butikofer and Hailey Berwick.
Berwick broke her own school record and earned second place in the 400 with a time of 1:00.72.
Wilson, a senior, placed third in the long jump with a mark of 16-3.
Addison Hansen established a new school record in the discus with a mark of 1081. The old record was 107-5 set by Tawnya Manning in 2004.
Rowan Wilson ran a time of 2:11.82 in the 800 for a personal best.
Froid/Lake’s Jordyn Breuer set a personal best time in the 800 at 2:46.42.
