Gymnasts Place At Minot Meet
Eastern Montana Gymnastics attended the Rebel Roundup Gymnastics Meet in Minot, N.D., March 8-9. EMG had five all-around winners, with Peyton Cool, Frankie Darby, River Darby, Ila Lehner and Kendra Linder winning first place in their age groups. Kendra and River were the overall winners in their levels and received a G.O.A.T. stuffed goat as a prize. Justine Massar and Emersyn Knuth were runners-up in the all-around in their age groups.
Fourteen event championships were won in Minot. Peyton won vault and floor (tie), Frankie tied for first on vault, Ava Hove won uneven bars, Emersyn placed first on floor and Justine won uneven bars and balance beam. Ila won her age group for uneven bars, balance beam and floor and had the highest beam score out of the entire Gold level with a 9.7. River placed first on balance beam out of all bronzes, with an amazing 9.8. EMG’s Gold team were champions out of all nine teams. They won by more than a point (a huge margin) over teams from Sidney, Bismarck, N.D., Beulah, N.D., Minot, N.D., Dickinson, N.D., Manitoba (Canada), Carrington, N.D., and Grand Forks, N.D. The bronze team from EMG, while small, held their own and placed fourth. In their best placing of the season, EMG’s silver team placed third out of 10 teams.
