Bainville Group Experiences Historical Trip

A group of Bainville High School students recently returned after a trip of learning opportunities that included stops in New York, Boston and Washington, D.C. The seven students enjoying the experience through the Educational Tours included Elsie Wilson, Chandi Johnson, Kaiden Holmes, Addison Hansen, Hailey Berwick, Tally Berwick and Haedyn Wills. Parent Kylie Johnston accompanied the students.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 71 calls from June 17-23. The incidents included the following: June 17 Deputies responded to Culbertson for a report of a possible violation of a no-contact order. Law enforcement talked with the two parties making the allegations. Deputies didn’t feel that there was a violation and advised the parties to contact their attorney. Deputies

Poplar Man Sentenced For 2021 Assault

Thomas Ivan Reese Larson, who admitted to beating a woman on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in 2021, was sentenced on June 20 to 15 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said last week. The defendant, 25, pleaded guilty in February to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided.

Supreme Court Overturns Panasuk Decision

The Montana Supreme Court has overturned the 2022 verdict of John David Panasuk, who the Roosevelt County jury found guilty of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. In June 2022, District Judge David J. Cybulski sentenced Panasuk to a three-year sentence in the state prison with no fine. Justice Laurie McKinnon delivered the opinion for the Montana Supreme Court.
