Froid/Lake Girls Look To Contend For Divisional Tournament

With four returning starters along with other key contributors, Froid/Lake’s girls’ basketball team looks for a solid upcoming season.
The returning starters for the Red Hawks include senior Mara Salvevold, senior Addison Elvsaas, senior Brooklynn Nordwick and sophomore Isabelle Nordwick.
B. Nordwick was an All-Conference selection and Salvevold was a second team pick last season.
Other players with a good amount of varsity experience include Avery Johnson, Lilly Johnson and Keira Stentoft. L. Johnson will miss the early part of the season due to a knee injury.
The Red Hawks feature 11 high school players and will add three eighth-graders.
“We’re quick,” Coach Josh Stentoft said. “That’s one of our strong points.”
A lack of height is a challenge for the Red Hawks.
“It’s a concern defensively,” Stentoft said. “We will try to make up for it with our quickness, pressure people.”
A goal for the team is to qualify for divisionals.
“We have to outwork everybody. That’s what will win games for us,” Stentoft said.
He sees Plentywood, Bainville and Richey/Lambert as the pre-season favorites in the league.
“Anybody in the conference could win,” he said.
