Bainville Council Approves Norton As Fire Chief

The Bainville Town Council held its regular meeting The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Mayor Toby Romo. Those present included Romo, Carol Rasmussen and Will Rathbun. A quorum was established. Clerk Billie Jo Cochran was also present. Guests included Darrel Rasmussen and David Norton.

During public comment, Darrel Rasmussen inquired about the Local Government Study committee.

During public works, Dan Lambert reported the current water line project is being completed on schedule as planned. He also requested that the lagoon gate be open by appointment only, as there are too many people abusing it. Lambert also mentioned soliciting donations to get sprinklers at the cemetery.

Rasmussen supplied minutes from the last meeting of the Bainville Community Development Committee. She said they discussed the clean up day and the softball field and how the memorial bench for Lyle Lambert could go in front of the park in place of the older one that is there currently.

Discussions were also held on redeveloping the Senior Center and developing a town brochure.

Lambert applied for a permit for a Connex container in his backyard, which was approved.

Gary and Brianna Brown requested a permit for a storage shed in their backyard, which was also approved.

Romo said that he visited with a couple members of the Rural Fire Board and came to the recommendation of David Norton as Bainville town fire chief. The motion passed unanimously.

Water loss was reported at 500,528 gallons, or 47 percent in October. The town’s goal for water loss is 10 percent or less.

The treasurer’s report was approved, as were meeting minutes for October. Delinquent accounts were reviewed and claims and JVs were approved in the amount of $20,120.01. Payroll was approved in the amount of $8,363.60.

The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at Bainville Town Hall.
