Second Half Lifts Bulldogs Over Terry

After falling behind in the third quarter, Bainville bounced back for a 55-46 homecoming victory over Terry on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The game was deadlocked at 26-26 at the half, and the Bulldogs struck first in the third quarter on a 65-yard drive. A pass from Rowan Wilson to Trevor Robertus put Bainville into Terry territory. Throws by Wilson to Robertus and Isaiah Bjorge put the ball down to the 14. Two plays later, Wilson connected with Robertus on a touchdown pass. The two also combined for the conversion for a 33-26 lead.

Terry went ahead on a 15yard pass play and a kick conversion for a 34-33 game with 5:15 left in the third quarter.

A long pass to Keagan Vaira put the Bulldogs into scoring position again, but Terry’s defense stopped the Bulldogs at the five. After Bainville’s defense stood strong, Wilson returned a punt 36 yards to the Terry 14. On first down, Wilson raced into the end zone. Parker Berwick kicked the conversion for a 41-34 advantage.

The Bulldogs’ defense then came up with a big play when Berwick recovered a fumble to stop a Terry threat. A pass to Berwick and a roughing penalty put the ball at the Terry 27. Robertus then took a short pass from Wilson and raced into the end zone for a 48-34 lead with 7:09 remaining in the game. After the Terriers reached the end zone to close the gap to 48-40 with 5:41 left, Bainville advanced to the Terry 11 on a great catch by Berwick. Wilson ran for the touchdown on the next play with 4:21 remaining. Wilson passed to Robertus for a 5540 lead.

Terry responded with another touchdown to cut the margin to 55-46 with 3:02 remaining. The Terriers had an opportunity to get closer after a fumble recovery deep inside Bainville territory. Robertus then caused a fumble which was recovered by Berwick.

Terry’s final drive ended with an interception by Wilson.

Bainville gained a 14-10 lead in the first quarter. Scoring Bainville’s touchdowns were Bjorge on a 15-yard throw from Wilson and Vaira on a 65-yard pass from Wilson.

The Bulldogs added two more touchdowns in the second quarter as Wilson made touchdown passes of 20 and 73 yards to Robertus and Kaiden Holmes.
