Hawbaker showed them how similar farm chemicals and home products can look similar and to always look at labels and make sure keep them in the right place.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office provided information and an activity on water safety, since we are so close to the Missouri River.

Marley Voll from the Richland County Extension office taught farm equipment safety and PTO safety. They tested their reaction time to realize that things can happen faster than we realize with large equipment.

An outdoor erosion trailer was brought in by the Roosevelt County Conservation District to understand how erosion works and see the effects it can cause and to plan accordingly.

Lastly, Josie Evenson with Richland County Extension discussed fire safety. Students used a fire extinguisher simulator to put out fires properly.

At the end of the rotations, the students were presented with take-home bags filled with donated items to complement what they had learned at the safety day. PK-K were also given bike helmets and participated in bike safety.

The Progressive Agriculture Foundation provides curriculum, t-shirts and take-home bags for the students.

According to the National Children’s Center for Rural and Agriculture Health and Safety Fact Sheet, about every three days a child dies in an ag-related accident and every day 33 children are injured in an ag-related accident.

The mission of the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is to provide education and training to make farm, ranch and rural life safer and healthier for children and their communities.
