Breaking Eight will provide this year’s concert after the Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo on Wednesday, July 10, in Wolf Point. The Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo begins at 6 p.m. at the Marvin Brookman Stadium.
Breaking Eight is a hard-energy country rock band from North Dakota. Band members have country and rodeo roots and they love performing for all country loving fans.
The band’s website reads, “Our music is positive, edgy and for all ages. Come on out to our shows to have a great time and experience awesome country rock music!”
Band members include Beni Paulson, Jerilyn Wiseman, Ty Taylor and Luke Smillie.
Paulson, who performs vocals and plays bass guitar, rode bulls for 15 years and competed at the Professional Bull Riders World Finals. He was North Dakota’s first bull rider to qualify for the event. Paulson is now mastering another profession, the world of contemporary country music. His family has always been very musical. After leading a number of North Dakota bands, he is not only the lead singer but also the lead bass player of Breaking Eight.
Wiseman provides vocals and fiddle playing for the band. She began playing fiddle at the young age of 6 years old and she became a competitive fiddle player. She started her involvement in rodeo when her family moved to Baker. She then competed in team roping, breakaway roping and barrel racing at Dickinson State University. Her voice tells true country stories that only a true cowgirl can tell.
Taylor handles vocals and lead guitar for Breaking Eight. His amazing guitar playing has allowed him to be part of some stellar North Dakota bands. He was part of the national touring act with 32 Below. When he is not playing great venues with Breaking Eight, he enjoys beings an emergency medical technician, a fireman and a city commissioner.
Smillie has been playing drums professionally since the age of 15. He grew up in northeast North Dakota and music was always playing throughout the home. He was a national tour drummer with Subzero, 3 Dollar Molly and The Roosters. His other interests include woodworking and construction projects.
