The Lustre Lions stormed into the Eastern C boys’ basketball divisional tournament’s championship game with a 68-43 victory over Circle on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Cayden Klatt hit three three-pointers during the first quarter of action as the Lions gained an 18-7 advantage. Johnslee Pierre accounted for a three-pointer and a dunk during the period. Circle’s Kashus Ereaux connected on two three-pointers for the Wildcats.

A 14-footer by Pierre and a basket by Terran Joseph off a long pass from Clay Reddig increased the margin to 25-7.

After Circle’s Owen Beery canned a three-pointer, Joseph scored four straight points. An inside shot by Byron Ewing put Lustre ahead by a 31-10 margin.

A three-pointer by Ereaux and a hoop by Jace Curtiss pulled Circle to 33-16, but free throws by Joseph and a drive by Clay Reddig produced a 37-18 half-time advantage.

The Lions outscored Circle by a 13-10 margin during the third quarter for a 50-28 lead.

A three-point play by Clay Reddig put the margin at 5531 with 6:18 to play en route to the 68-43 win.

Reaching double figures for the Lions were Pierre with 13, Klatt with 12, Joseph with 12 and Ewing with 10 points.

Cam Reddig and Clay Reddig added seven points each. Joel Reddig scored three. Having two points each were Ife Aniobi and Diek Olfert.

Ewing grabbed nine rebounds. Cam Reddig finished with five assists and two steals. Pierre had three steals. Top scorers for Circle were Curtiss with 12 and Ereaux with 10 points.
