The Lustre Christian Lions repeated as the District 3C boys’ basketball champions with an impressive 55-39 victory over Scobey on Saturday, Feb. 17.

The Lions led for almost the entire game. With the score deadlocked at 6-6, the Lions went ahead to stay when Cam Reddig fired in a three-pointer. A fast-break basket by Johnslee Pierre put Lustre ahead 11-6 at the end of the opening quarter.

A three-pointer by Pierre and a drive by Cam Reddig increased the gap to 16-9 early in the second quarter.

Three-pointers by Braxton Wolfe gave the Spartans some momentum, but a pair of long shots by Cayden Klatt provided the Lions with a 2716 half-time advantage.

Lustre ended the third quarter with six straight points on a hoop by Clay Reddig, a free throw by Terran Joseph and a three-pointer by Cam Reddig for a 38-26 lead.

The Spartans were able to pull to 44-37 on a basket by Brekken Maher with 4:48 remaining, but the Lions responded with three-pointers by Klatt and Clay Reddig to put the contest away.

Top scorers for Lustre were Klatt with 16, Cam Reddig with 15 and Clay Reddig with 12 points.

Also scoring were Byron Ewing with six, Pierre with five and Joseph with one point.

Leading Scobey were John Carney with 18 and Wolfe with 13 points.

The Eastern C divisional tournament will start Feb. 28 in Glasgow. The Lions will face Savage in the opening round.
