Cowboys Place Second After Upset Victories At Tournament
Culbertson’s great run at the District 2C boys’ basketball tournament came to an end as the Cowboys were defeated by Plentywood, 63-29, in the title game on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Plentywood jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter and the Wildcats added 15 more points in the second period for a 31-15 half-time advantage.
The Wildcats held Culbertson to four points in the third quarter for a 48-19 margin.
Plentywood led by as many as 37 points in the final period.
Culbertson’s top scorers were Mark Kirkaldie with seven, Gavin Deen with six and Dawson Bergum with six points.
Also scoring were Nyreece Halvorson with four, Plenny Williams with four, Carson Solem with one and Bridger Salvevold with one.
Salvevold finished with eight rebounds.
Leading Plentywood were Carson Solberg with 18 and Chance Klein with 12 points.
Ben Hagen grabbed 14 rebounds. Solberg had six assists. Landon Flickinger and Solberg each fired in three three-pointers for the Wildcats.
