Wolves Lose Contests In Scobey

 

Wolf Point’s basketball teams dropped both non-conference games in Scobey on Friday, Jan. 26.

In the girls’ game, the Wolves lost by a 67-29 final.

After falling behind 15-6 in the first quarter, the Wolves trailed 32-8 at the half.

Wolf Point outscored Scobey by a 14-13 margin in the third quarter.

Top scorers for the Wolves were Ameliya Doney with eight, Azalei Ackerman with five, Keeley Blount-Henderson with four and Amya Martinez with three points.

Kennadi Cromwell and Kaytie Aanstad led Scobey with 16 points each.

In the boys’ contest, Scobey earned a 60-37 victory.

The Wolves trailed 9-3 early, but Wolf Point ran off the last eight points of the first quarter on a basket by Lennoxx Lilley off a pass from Peyton Summers, two drives by Summers and a hoop by Josh Jackson off a pass from Lilley.

A basket by Lilley put the Wolves ahead 13-9 with 6:32 left in the half. Scobey exploded for the last 17 points of the half for a 26-13 advantage. John Carney highlighted the streak with four three-pointers.

The Spartans opened the second half with the first nine points to increase the margin to 35-13.

Wolf Point responded with seven straight points on five points by Lilley and a fastbreak hoop by Summers. The Wolves trailed 42-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Top scorers for the Wolves were Summers with 17 and Lilley with 10 points.

Leading the Spartans were Bram Handran with 20, Carney with 15 and Ty Leischner with 10 points.
