Cowboys Earn Win Over MonDak
The Culbertson Cowboys put together solid second and third quarters to down MonDak, 56-33, in league play on Saturday, Jan. 27.
After leading by only an 8-5 margin at the end of the first period, the Cowboys struck for 18 points in the second quarter for a 26-14 lead.
Culbertson accounted for 21 points in the third quarter for a 47-28 advantage.
Nyreece Halvorson led the Cowboys with 18 points. Also reaching double figures were Bridger Salvevold with 12 and Dawson Bergum with 10 points.
Rounding out the scoring were Gavin Deen with five, Micah Eagle Boy with four and Plenny Williams with three points. Adding two points each were Ian Snyder and Donte Eagle Boy.
Thomas Arnson led the Thunder with 12 points.
In the girls’ game, the Cowgirls came up short by a 52-33 margin.
The Thunder jumped out to an 11-4 lead.
Ahead 34-26 entering the fourth quarter, MonDak scored 18 points in the final period.
Destiny Thompson scored 14 points for the Cowgirls. Also scoring were Leandra Perkins with eight, Mariana Burciaga with seven and Ivy Colvin with four points.
Abby Lowes led MonDak’s attack with 18 points.
