Froid/Lake Girls Earn Comeback Win
Froid/Lake’s girls’ basketball team came from behind to edge Savage, 39-36, during home league action on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The Red Hawks trailed 3128 entering the fourth quarter before scoring the first five points of the fourth period on a free throw by Jaeleigh Davidson and four points by Mara Salvevold.
After five straight points by Savage’s Brooke Reuter, Froid/Lake cut the gap to 36-35 when Brooklynn Nordwick scored on an inbounds play.
A three-pointer by B. Nordwick put Froid/Lake up 38-36 with 46 seconds remaining.
Savage then missed free throw attempts down the stretch. A free throw by B. Nordwick with two seconds left put the final at 39-36.
Top scorers for the Red Hawks were B. Nordwick with 14 and Salvevold with 13 points.
Also scoring were Isabelle Nordwick with six, Davidson with five and Addison Elvsaas with a points.
Reuter led the Warriors with 13 points. Taylor Conradsen and Aspen Peterson added six points each.
After a 9-9 deadlock at the end of the first quarter, Savage led 23-19 at the half.
