Culbertson High School was the site of the Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament on Friday, Jan. 19. Sixteen schools were in attendance for a day of what coach and host Jeri Gustafson described as “tense, stiff competition.”

Students competed in 16 Montana High School Association sanctioned speech, drama and debate events.

“The Culbertson speech and drama team did a fantastic job of representing CHS at our divisional tournament,” Gustafson said.

Culbertson students placing included Samantha Annett with a first in MPA; Harrison Green, first in informative; Colt’n Rees, third in MPA; Logan Berwick, fifth in humorous oral interpretation; Florian Budurean, sixth in humorous theatre; Jaxon Flinn, seventh in informative speaking and Klesta Goci came in eighth in informative.

The team won the top spot at home, earning the Class C speech sweepstakes trophy.

Trinity Gregor from Froid won first place in mime. She was joined by Froid’s Vala Gregor, who took third place in humorous oral interpretation. Froid’s Cian Logan placed second in original oratory.

Froid’s team placed third overall in the Class C speech.

Qualifying participants will travel to Choteau to take part in the state tournament on Jan. 26-27.
