Bainville Girls Take Savage, 56-36

 

The hot-shooting Bainville Bulldogs earned a 56-36 girls’ basketball victory in Savage on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Bainville led 12-6 at the end of the first quarter, and Savage trailed by only a 14-10 margin midway into the second quarter.

The Bulldogs then moved ahead to 19-10 on an inside shot by Tally Berwick and a three-pointer by Hailey Berwick.

A basket by Lila Butikofer and a basket off a rebound by Addison Hansen increased the gap to 23-10. Miah Pippenger then fired in a three-pointer for a 26-10 lead.

Savage’s Brooke Reuter hit a three-pointer to cut the margin to 26-13 at the half.

The Bulldogs kept rolling in the third quarter with an 8-0 run on hoops by T. Berwick, M. Pippenger, Brecklyn Pippenger and Elsie Wilson for a 34-14 advantage.

Scoring by Wilson and Butikofer put the score at 40-18. Bainville held a 40-22 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

H. Berwick opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to put the margin at 21 points. After the Warriors pulled to 48-31, the Bulldogs responded with a three-pointer by M. Pippenger and a pair of free throws by B. Pippenger for a 54-31 lead with 2:24 left.

Bainville’s top scorers were M. Pippenger with 18, H. Berwick with 10 and T. Berwick with 10 points.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were B. Pippenger with seven, Wilson with five, Butikofer with four and Hansen with two points.

Reuter led Savage with 15 points. Karley McPherson and Cambry Conradsen added nine points each.
