Poplar Comes Back To Beat Glasgow, 65-61

The Poplar Indians accomplished an incredible comeback to earn a 65-61 victory in Glasgow on Friday, Jan. 12.

The Indians trailed 57-42 at the end of the third quarter and fell behind 59-42 to open the fourth period.

Poplar started its comeback with a 12-footer by William Youngman and five straight points by Geordy Medicine Cloud.

Glasgow’s final basket of the night came on an inside shot by Wyatt Babb that put the Scotties ahead 61-49 with 4:46 remaining.

After free throws by Medicine Cloud and Delray Lilley cut the gap to 61-53, Medicine Cloud connected on consecutive three-pointers for a 6159 game.

The Indians pulled even at 61-61 when Walker Burshia score with 1:30 remaining.

After Glasgow missed a shot attempt, Bushia found an open Cameron Reum for a hoop with 48 seconds left. A pair of free throws by Kaniel Ricker increased Poplar’s lead to 65-61 with 11 seconds left. Ricker then took a charge to give possession back to Poplar.

Poplar’s top scorers were Lilley with 27 and Medicine Cloud with 24 points.

Leading Glasgow were Cade Hudyma with 22, Myles Yoakam with 17 and Babb with 15 points.

After Poplar led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter, Glasgow scored 27 points in the second period for a 40-25 advantage.

The Indians will host Malta on Friday, Jan. 19, and then travel to Wolf Point on Saturday, Jan. 20.
