Culbertson Defeats Savage, 56-54
Culbertson’s girls’ basketball squad posted a 56-54 home win over Savage on Friday, Jan. 5.
The Cowgirls held a fivepoint lead heading into the game’s final minute and fought off the Warriors for the win. After the Warriors cut the gap to one point, Payton Labatte hit a free throw for the Cowgirls. Culbertson’s defense stopped Savage on two shot attempts in the last 10 seconds.
Destiny Thompson led the Cowgirls with 19 points including two three-pointers.
Ayden Ator finished with 13 points and three three-pointers.
Also scoring for Culbertson were Mariana Burciaga with eight, Ivy Colvin with six, Labatte with five and Leandra Perkins with three.
Leading Savage were Taylor Conradsen with 16, Brooke Reuter with 15, Aspen Peterson with 12 and Cambry Conradsen with 11 points.
The Cowgirls jumped out to a 20-13 lead in the first quarter and held a 28-24 halftime advantage.
Culbertson led 45-42 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
