Nashua’s Barnett Wins Horse Training Contract
Nashua’s Shaylin Barnett has won a coveted horse training contract worth $10,000 per month after emerging victorious in the “Horse Help Train-Off” competition.
Barnett lives in Malta, but she was raised in Nashua and attended Nashua High School.
The contest program Barnett entered is a Mississippi- based event featuring horse trainers from across the country competing on YouTube. Barnett told Western Ag Network in December that she thought her odds were so slim that she thought a call telling her she’d made it into the top six was either a fluke or a prank.
The win includes a $120,000 annual contract to continue training horses alongside the “Horse Guru,” Michael Gascon, in Poplarville, Miss. Gascon is known as among the world’s best gaited horse trainer in the world and has produced equine viral videos with over 350 million views on his social media.
