Bainville Girls Come Back For League Victory Over MonDak

 

The Bainville Bulldogs picked up their game in the fourth quarter to edge Mon-Dak, 46-41, for a road girls’ basketball win on Friday, Dec. 15.

The Bulldogs entered the fourth quarter with a 3527 deficit, but five straight points by Hailey Berwick got Bainville off to a great start in the final period.

A great drive by Elsie Wilson cut the margin to 35-34 with 6:19 remaining.

H. Berwick, a sophomore, then scored on two drives and a baseline shot to put the Bulldogs ahead 40-35 as Bainville scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter.

After MonDak’s 6-3 sophomore Abby Lowes hit two free throws with 3:19 left, Reign Ledahl added a free throw to cut Bainville’s lead to 40-38 with 1:56 remaining.

The Bulldogs then stepped up with a basket by Tally Berwick and a drive by Wilson. After a steal by Wilson, H. Berwick scored for a 46-38 advantage with just 44 seconds left. Reaching double figures for the Bulldogs were H. Berwick with 16, T. Berwick with 11 and Wilson with 10. Also scoring were Brecklyn Pippenger with six, Addison Hansen with two and Lila Butikofer with one.

Top scorers for the Thunder were Erika Christian with 14 and Lowes with 12 points.

The Bulldogs fell behind 9-4 in the first quarter, but Bainville struck for the last nine points of the period including a three-pointer by Pippenger. Bainville was held to six points in the second quarter and trailed by a 26-19 half-time margin.
