Band Students Perform In Missoula

Members of Wolf Point High School’s band got a taste of a larger environment when the students traveled to Missoula near the end of October.

Wolf Point’s band students attended the University of Montana’s football game on Oct. 28. A total of 19 students made the journey from Wolf Point to Missoula.

Wolf Point’s music director Russell Johnson said the Grizzly marching band provided music to Wolf Point’s students a few weeks prior to the trip. The Wolves then got to play with the University of Montana’s band during pre-game and half-time performances.

“They had a blast,” Johnson said.

He plans to take Wolf Point’s band students to Bozeman next fall for a similar experience.

“Then, they can compare to the two places,” Johnson explained.

The University of Montana won the game over Northern Colorado by a 40-0 final.

Upcoming activities for the band students include holding The Madrigal on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Johnson said the event will be different than in years past, but it should be very entertaining for area residents.

Holiday concerts are planned for Dec. 11-12.
