Lustre Opens Tourney With Win
The Lustre Lions surprised MonDak in straight sets during first round action at the District 1C volleyball tournament in Plentywood on Thursday, Oct. 26.
The Lions won by a 25-18, 25-17, 25-23, final.
Grace Brown accounted for two kills and a block to put the Lions up by a 23-16 margin in the first set.
With the score at 24-18, G. Brown had a block to end the set.
In the second set, the serving of Aubri Holzrichter and net play of Alexa Reddig led the Lions to an 8-0 advantage. After MonDak fought back to 11-10, the Lions struck for five straight points as the serving of Hannah Brown led the way.
A kill by Reddig and a serve by Sarah Dahl increased the gap to 20-13. The Lions went on to earn a 25-17 victory.
Lustre trailed by a 15-10 margin in the third set, but the Lions came back on tips by A. Holzrichter and Reddig. A kill by G. Brown and an ace by Reddig produced an 18-17 advantage.
After the Thunder grabbed a 23-21 lead, the Lions tied the score on a tip by A. Holzrichter.
Two solid serves by H. Brown ended the match.
