Students Participate In 4-H State Horse Events
Roosevelt County 4-H horse members participated in both the Working Ranch Horse Finals at the 406 Arena in Vaughn on Sept 9-11, and the State Horse Show on Sept 22-24.
Members Blythe Anderson, Copeland Anderson, Boone Vanden-Bos and Emmalyn Anderson took in the show in Vaughn with classes consisting of knowledge exam, ranch horse pattern, heading and healing, and ranch sorting. Emmalyn Anderson placed fourth in Level 1 knowledge exam, Blythe Anderson placed third in the Level 1 knowledge exam. VandenBos earned fourth in Level 1 ranch sorting and fifth in Level 1 healing.
For the State 4-H Horse Show, members Tacey Traeger and Emilynn Powell traveled down to Joliet at the Cottonwood Event Center to compete in several events.
Traeger received eighth place in western horsemanship Level 1 and eighth place in bareback walk/trot Level 1.
Powell took fourth place in yearling in hand showmanship and third place in yearling in hand trail with her horse Copper. With her horse Hand, she also placed seventh in horsemanship pattern Level 3 and sixth place in short stirrup reining that also had her own music.
The state horse shows are an event for 4-H horse project members to develop qualities of leadership, responsibility and project growth that comes with being engaged in 4-H.
