Wolf Point Drops Game In Cut Bank

After a close first half, Wolf Point’s football team suffered a 48-12 setback in Cut Bank on Friday, Sept. 22.

Wolf Point accounted for the game’s first touchdown when a fumble was recovered by Jesse Reed in the end zone with 2:56 left in the opening quarter.

Cut Bank tied the game on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Tate Monroe to Dallas Berkrum.

Wolf Point’s Preston Swenson returned the ensuing kickoff to inside Cut Bank territory, but the threat ended on a quarterback sack.

Cut Bank grabbed the lead on a 27-yard quarterback scramble run by Monroe with 3:27 left in the half. Alex Wahl ran in the conversion to put the margin at 14-6.

Cut Bank was driving again late in the half when an interception by Maddox Reum ended the threat. A 23-yard dash by Wahl increased Cut Bank’s lead to 22-6 with 7:46 left in the third quarter.

The margin went to 28-6 on a 52-yard pass play from Monroe to Wahl. A short pass put Cut Bank ahead by a 35-6 margin.

Wolf Point struck back when Swenson returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown with 1:29 remaining in the third quarter.

Cut Bank added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The scores came on two pass plays for the 48-12 final.

Reum intercepted two passes in the game for Wolf Point.

Wolf Point will host Roundup for its homecoming game at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29. Roundup has a record of 0-5 this season with losses against Fairfield, 54-0, Big Timer, 26-8, Shepherd, 56-0, Colstrip, 19-0, and Joliet, 48-6.
