Poplar Falls To Wibaux In Conference Action

The Poplar Indians lost a hard-fought 48-24 home game against Wibaux during eight-man football action on Thursday, Sept. 21.

On their first offensive play, the Indians scored on a 60-yard pass from Kameron Reum to Adrian Matuck.

Poplar’s other touchdowns in the contest came on a 23yard throw from William Youngman to Matuck, a sixyard pass from Youngman to Reum and an eight-yard run by Reum.

Poplar Coach Joe Hammar said having Ivan Iron Cloud and Matuck in action for the Indians was a benefit.

“We’re staying pretty healthy, just the normal bumps and bruises and a couple of sprains to try and work through,” Hammar said.

Gavyn Grainger was a defensive standout for Poplar. The junior accounted for a couple of sacks, a knocked down pass and several tackles for losses. “It came down to Wibaux’s front being able to make the holes and move the ball downfield,” Hammar said. “We need to focus on energy on offense this week.”

The Indians will play at Scobey on Friday, Sept. 29.
