Lady Wolves Beat Malta

 

The Wolf Point Wolves scored a key conference victory at home against Malta on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Wolves defeated Malta by a 25-19, 20-25, 28-26, 25-20 final.

After the two District 2B squads split the opening two sets, the third set was a very close battle.

Wolf Point trailed by a 2017 margin in the third set, but a pair of aces by Gabrielle Fourbear helped pull the Wolves to a 21-21 deadlock.

A kill by Sierra Hamilton and an ace by Azalei Ackerman put the Wolves ahead by a 23-21 margin. After Malta tied the score at 23-23, the Wolves grabbed the lead on a tip by Kylie Rodenberg.

The score was even at 2626 when the Wolves earned the final two points including one on a kill by Kaleah Miller- Toves.

With the fourth set even at 13-13, Wolf Point moved ahead on a back-row kill by Hamilton. Miller-Toves then produced four strong serves for an 18-13 advantage.

A spike by Hamilton and a tip by Rodenberg put the Wolves ahead 20-17. With the score at 23-20, the Wolves won the final two points on a kill and serve by Hamilton.

Hamilton finished with 12 kills to lead the Wolves. Rodenberg accounted for 24 assists.

Miller-Toves served six aces. Kashlyn Speak Thunder had four blocks., Ackerman finished with 37 digs.

The Wolves will host Glasgow on Thursday, Sept. 21.
