Cowboys Fall Short In Wibaux

After a close first half, the Culbertson Cowboys lost by a 48-29 final in Class C football play on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Culbertson trailed by only a 22-20 half-time margin.

Culbertson’s first score came on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Bridger Salvevold to Dawson Bergum.

The Cowboys struck again through the air for their second score when Salvevold connected with Brooks Solem on a 32-yard touchdown pass. Salvevold hit Mark Kirkaldie on the conversion pass.

Culbertson’s final touchdown of the second quarter came on a 70-yard pass from Salvevold to Solem.

Wibaux scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to increase its lead to 36-29. The Cowboys scored on a 37-yard run by Bridger Salvevold and a field goal by Josue Mena.

The Longhorns pulled away with two touchdowns in the final period for the 4829 win.

Culbertson Coach Brian Manning said the Cowboys turned the ball over four times and were stopped twice inside the red zone.

The Cowboys will host Scobey on Thursday, Sept. 14, starting at 7 p.m.
