Wadopana Set For August 4-6

Dates and schedules have been set for the Wadopana Celebration in Wolf Point.

This year’s event will take place Friday, Aug. 4, to Sunday, Aug. 6, at the powwow grounds in Wolf Point near the Sherman Inn. The Celebration Committee will be paying drums daily.

Said a press release, “Wadopana Drum Keep Zadyn O’Kute Sica would like to extend an invite to all drums for the 2023 Celebration.” Ages 5-12 are encouraged to participate in a $350 hand drum special. Audience will choose winners.

Grand entries for all dancers and dance categories will be held Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Camping day is Aug. 3.

Following Wadopana, the summer celebration calendar includes the Turns Around Powwow in Poplar Aug. 1820, Fort Kipp Celebration Aug. 25-27 and the Poplar Indian Days Labor Day Powwow Sept. 1-3.
