A record number of golfers turned out at the Wolf Point Airport Golf Course for this year’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink golf tournament.

The tournament, held annually during Stampede week on Thursday, July 6, is a popular Stampede event.

Organizer Jan Bryan said she usually limits the popular tournament to 24 four-person teams, but the fun was expanded to 32 teams this year in honor of the Stampede’s 100th celebration.

The tournament raises at least $1,600 each year for NEMHS’s mammography department.

Participants explained they love playing in the golf course annually.

“It’s a good tournament because you have a lot of fun as many community members come out and play,” Brock Copenhaver said. “Jan Bryan puts on a good tournament. It raises interest for breast cancer awareness.”

“It’s to support breast cancer awareness,” Nathelle Frederick said of why she plays each year.

Tressa Welch added, “It’s important to support it for breast cancer awareness.”

Anthony Red Cloud organized a foursome of teachers to participate in this year’s tournament.

“It’s fun with a lot of people,” Red Cloud of the tournament. “People are here to have a good time.”

Scott Montogomery added, “You get to see the whole community here.”
