The Poplar Indians accounted for 25 points to earn sixth place at the Northern B divisional track meet held in Great Falls on Saturday, May 20.

The top three girls’ teams were Glasgow with 130.5, Conrad with 100 and Malta with 85 points.

Poplar’s Kessee Erickson, a junior, earned third place in the discus with a mark of 94-3.

Bailey Dupree, a sophomore, put together a strong meet with two fourth-place finishes. Dupree had personal best times of 17.98 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 50.07 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.

The 3200-meter run was a strength for the Indians as senior Reinita Irizarry finished fourth at 12:58.74 and senior Jazmyn Carrywater placed sixth at 13:11.02.

Carrywater ran the 1600 in a personal best time of 5:59.24 for fifth place.

Blake Follette qualified for state by placing fifth in the 800 at 2:38.06.

Poplar’s girls’ 1600-meter relay team advanced by taking fifth with a time of 4:45.24. Running the relay were Carrywater, Dupree, Follette and Irizarry.

Poplar scored nine points in the boys’ division for 11th place. The top three teams were Glasgow with 127.33, Shelby with 71 and Conrad with 67.33 points.

Adrien Matuck led the way for Poplar’s boys. The junior earned third place in the long jump with a mark of 19-4 and fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.85 seconds.

Walker Burshia, a sophomore, placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 38-10.

The Class B state meet is scheduled for Friday, May 26, and Saturday, May 27, in Butte.
