Library Board Talks Coding Kits, Book Talks

The Roosevelt County Library board held its regular meeting March 25.

Attendees included Roosevelt County Library acting chair Joyce Harvey, trustees Helen Welte, Perry Lilley Sr. and Vernie Madison, Froid Library director Sheri Harvey and Roosevelt County Library director Janet Livingston.

The purchases for surveillance cameras were the only non-ordinary purchases. The last of the security cameras are in and should be installed by the end of April, according to Jenna Presser with Roosevelt County. Livingston reported that she has applied for a free kit for a virtual Girls Who Code workshop that may be conducted this summer for 9-12 grades.

Livingston also reports that she is training Tiffany Grey Bear to talk on the radio about library-related topics.

Livingston said she was not able to attend a State Fund workshop in Glasgow March 8, so Miracle Spotted Wolf went in her place.

Discussion on the library’s strategic plan is ongoing. The library is working to create a survey for county residents to voice their opinions. Livingston provided some suggested questions for consideration with a first draft.

Livingston is planning on attending the Montana Library Association conference in Billings and received notification of a $150 trip voucher to help with expenses.

April 27 will be the next federation meeting in Wolf Point. May 17 will be STEM training in Glendive.

Theresa Nichols Schuster has written a new book titled Brittle Silver. She is planning on being in the area for the 100th Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede. Discussion on having Schuster at the library for a book talk is ongoing.

June 9 will be the next Friends of the Library meeting.

The next regular meeting of the library board is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 17, in Wolf Point.
