Superintendent Candidates To Be Interviewed By Board

The Wolf Point School board has voted to interview both applicants for the school district superintendent positions.

During a meeting on Tuesday, March 21, trustees agreed to interview Anthony Morrison and Betsy Dobias. The interview process, including meeting with the public, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 4.

Morrison served as the superintendent in Wyndmere, N.D., from July, 2021, until the middle of this school year.

Morrison has 17 years of education experience including serving as a middle school principal in Tohatchi, N.M. He previously taught social studies.

Dobias has served as superintendent at Ganado High School in Ganado, Ariz. She holds a doctorate degree in education.

The interview process will include touring schools, meeting with staff members, visiting with community members and interviews with trustees. There were four applicants for the open junior high principal position. Trustees voted to interview Dan Horsmon, Rain Escarcega Turcotte and Katie Noser.

Trustee Lanette Clark made the motion to interview the three candidates. Trustee Keith Higgins seconded the motion.

Board chair Lawrence Hamilton Jr. argued to interview only Horsmon and Turcotte because they are current Wolf Point school employees.

“Why leave an application on the table?” Higgins said.

The motion to interview the three candidates passed by a 3-1 margin with Hamilton voting against.

Interviews for the junior high position are scheduled for Wednesday, March 29.

Both the superintendent and junior high positions are scheduled to begin in July.
