AAU Wrestlers Earn Honors At State Meet
Wrestlers from Wolf Point and Poplar earned honors during the Montana AAU State meet held in Billings during the weekend.
Leading Wolf Point’s boys was Maxton Macdonald by taking first place at 120 pounds in the midget division. He defeated Glasgow’s Josiah Hernandez, 10-0, in the title match.
Earning fourth place were Jesse Reed at 138 pounds cadet and Kellen Moran at 120 pounds novice.
Placing fifth for Wolf Point’s boys were Kolter Berglee at 60 pounds novice and Hunter Zimmerman at 90 pounds midget, Annaleigh Matejovsky earned top honors at 110 pounds in the schoolgirls division. She pinned Stillwater’s Rayne Emmett in 51 seconds for the championship.
Four Wolf Point girls placed third at the competition. Joli Beston took third at 145 pounds in the elite division, Addison Matejovsky earned third at 90 pounds midget, Iverlee Paulson took third at novice heavyweight and Jeina Reum placed third at 90/95 schoolgirl.
Lakeahlah Mays took fifth place at 100 pounds in the schoolgirl division. Ka’Anuhea Villaluz placed fifth at 35 pounds in the tots division.
Poplar’s girls came away with four state championships. Caydee Gorder pinned teammate Adlee Archambault for the title at 70 pounds midget. Cali Gorder pinned Butte’s Adalie Hazlett in 2:07 for the championship at 80 pounds novice. Blake Follette pinned Height’s Taylee Troutman in 5:32 for the title at 113 pounds cadet. Angelina Escarcega defeated Chinook’s Grace Buck, 18-1, for the title at 98/113 elite.
Placing second for Poplar were Tori Dimas at 98 pounds cadet and Harper Young at 112/120 pounds midget, Taking third were Aniston Kreusel at 60 pounds bantam, Adlee Archambault at 70 pounds midget and Thea Week at 126 pounds cadet.
Earning fourth place were Alara Parshall at 120 pounds cadet, Liberty Boadle at 85 schoolgirl and Audrey Swallers at 70 novice.
Renlee Archambault placed fifth at 40 pounds tot. Masina Youpee was fifth at 105 schoolgirl. Cante Fourbear- GreyBear took sixth at 65 pounds bantam. Mariah Beston placed sixth at 105 schoolgirl.
In the boys’ division, Navarjo Escarcega earned first place at 126 pounds in the cadet division. He outpointed Sidney’s Brody Keysor, 6-3, in the title match.
Placing second were Knox SpottedBull at 120 pounds midget and Grayson Failing at 70 pounds bantam.
Taking third place were Cetan Beston at tot heavyweight, David Parker Jr. at 180 schoolboy and Landin Berger at 189 pounds schoolboy. Bridger Fitzpatrick took fourth at 90 pounds bantam.
Rollen Spottedbull placed fifth and Hector Yellow Owl took sixth at cadet heavyweight. Placing sixth were Bentley Shields at 105 schoolboy, Alexander Beston at 95 midget and Dillinger Smith at 112 novice.
