School Board Positions Up For Election

Wolf Point voters will determine four school board trustee positions during a mail-in ballot on Tuesday, May 2.

Long-time trustee Lanette Clark’s current term ends in May for District 5. Clark is eligible to file as an incumbent candidate.

Keith Higgins was elected in May 2022 to complete Corey Reum’s term. Higgins’ term in District 1 ends in May. An election for a threeyear term will take place this year. Higgins has field as an incumbent candidate.

Roxanne Gourneau became the trustee for District 2 last May when a draw of lots took place because the election with her and Jaronn Boysun resulted in a tie. According to state law, the term became for only one year because of the process. This position will be open for election of a trustee for a two-year term. Gourneau has filed as an incumbent candidate.

Board chair Lawrence Hamilton, who represents District 3, announced his resignation last month to be effective on April 10. Hamilton’s term was scheduled to run until May 2024. This position will be up for election for a one-year term.

Filing deadline is Thursday, March 23, at 5 p.m. Maps of the districts are available on the school website at www. wolfpointschools.org The trustee declaration form is located on the Wolf Point Schools website at www.wolfpointschools.org, by going to Wolf Point School District page, Our District, School Board Information and is also available at the School District Administration Office located at 400 Fallon Street. Completed forms can be filed with the district business manager/election administrator at the Wolf Point School District Office.

Ballots will be mailed Thursday, April 13. Voted ballots can be mailed back or dropped off at the Wolf Point School District Office. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. May 2.
