Indians Post Victory Over Glasgow Boys

Poplar’s boys’ basketball team stepped up in the fourth quarter to handle Glasgow, 51-45, at home on Saturday, Feb. 11.

The Indians were behind by a 38-35 margin after three quarters of play in the regular- season finale contest. The Scotties increased their lead to 40-35 until Poplar’s Delray Lilley scored on a drive and Geordy Medicine Cloud hit a three-pointer for a 40-40 deadlock.

After Glasgow’s Wyatt Babb put in a basket, two free tosses by Lilley produced a 42-42 tie.

Neither team scored again until Lilley accounted for a steal and drive with 3:25 remaining. A short jumper by Lilley put Poplar ahead 46-42 with 2:50 left.

After Babb scored another basket, Poplar’s Kaniel Ricker hit a pair of free throws with 1:15 left for a 48-44 advantage.

A free throw by Lilley put the margin at 49-44 with only 15 seconds remaining.

Lilley finished the contest with 27 points to lead the Indians.

Also scoring for Poplar were Ricker with seven, Medicine Cloud with six, Walker Burshia with six and Preston Ogle with five points.

Glasgow’s top scorers were Babb with 18 and Cade Hudyma with 13 points.

The District 2B tournament starts Thursday, Feb. 16, in Malta.
